The first St. Francis Residence was opened in 1980. It was the first of its kind to offer a comprehensive solution to the problem of homelessness – permanent housing with supportive services. This approach has become an award winning model for programs all over the country. There are now three St. Francis Residences serving almost 300 men and women.

Our Mission

“St Francis Friends of the Poor was established to offer permanent housing with supportive services to homeless men and women with histories of chronic mental illness.”
