Our Services
We are a caring community that supports each other.
Each of our three residences is staffed by an interdisciplinary care management team consisting of a nurse, two activities coordinators, a government benefits specialist, part-time psychiatrists, visiting medical doctors, and social work supervisors, who ensure that tenants receive the comprehensive care they need.
Every weekday morning, tenants are encouraged to check in with the nurse and their case manager to ensure they take their medications as prescribed and manage their money responsibly. These check-ins also allow staff to develop trusting relationships with the tenants and quickly address any concerns that arise.
Our community comes together through:
A robust arts program that encourages tenants to express and share their creativity
Social and cultural outings to local art galleries and museums, movie theaters, pool halls, farmers’ markets and the like
Healthy living activities, such as yoga, Pilates, aerobics, dance, drumming, walking groups, and meditation
Community-building opportunities, such as weekly Tenants’ Council meetings where tenants come together to learn how to respectfully voice their concerns, advocate for themselves, and practice peaceful conflict resolution; and the Night Lounge, which is run by the tenants and provides an opportunity for them to relax, socialize, watch TV, play cards and other games while enjoying light refreshments with each other
Skill-building activities, such as healthy eating, laundry groups, personal care, computer classes, budgeting, and reading/current events groups
Seasonal day trips to area parks and historical sites
Referral and Admission Guidelines
For over 40 years, the St. Francis Residences have successfully supported those who have not otherwise had long-term success in managing their psychiatric illness and staying safely housed.
While most of our tenants are referred through the NYC shelter system, personal and family referrals are accepted for consideration as such vacancies become available.
St. Francis provides programmatic services and has care managers onsite Monday – Friday, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. Applicants requiring 24-hour supervision, more structure, or intensive substance use services are better served by programs that address their specific needs.
